About this Course

Developing Adult Numeracy (DAN) is designed primarily as a practitioner training resource for Literacy and Basic Skills practitioners in Ontario; however, it is free and available to anyone. It is particularly useful for instructors who work with adult literacy learners. This course, developed by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, is based upon primary research on practitioner needs and effective professional development in numeracy teaching, blended with secondary research in current thinking and practice of adult numeracy worldwide. In this course, you will find learning materials and teaching strategies, theory and practice, interesting questions and straight answers, and room for your and your learners’ thoughts and feelings about Math.
