The Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities uses
Info LBS on AlphaCom as their primary means of communication to the LBS literacy field. In addition, many practitioners use the AlphaCom discussion site as a means to connect with others, share ideas and to keep up-to-date on what people are saying about various adult literacy issues. The Ontario Literacy Coalition works together with literacy organizations, literacy learners, and other individuals and organizations for the purpose of promoting and supporting all levels of literacy in the province of Ontario. An important part of their work involves research and publication of important resources. The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities’ Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Program provides literacy, numeracy and essential skills services that help learners achieve their goals related to further education or training, employment or independence. The Ministry also promotes literacy in Ontario by encouraging and supporting research and development initiatives in literacy and by ensuring that those agencies offering the LBS Program have the support necessary to provide quality literacy services.
